Spring Swords And Wahoo
Report Date: April 15, 2018
Since my last report fishing has been up and down. Some trips have been very good and other trips not so good.
Let's start with the good fishing. The daytime swordfish bite has still remained very good. I have had 6 trips since my last report and have caught fish on all trips but one. One of the trips we caught two swordfish. The biggest weighing 150lbs. Most of the swordfish have been in the 70 to 100 lb class. But with that said anytime you can hook and catch a swordfish from 1,700 ft on the bottom is a great day. Daytime swordfishing is a year round fishery in South Florida.
I have also had a few trips fishing for Wahoo, Kingfish, Tuna and Mahi. The kingfish bite has just started to pick up as I write this report. We have not been able to catch a kingfish our last few trips. The good news is the wahoo bite has been very good. We have caught a few wahoo up to 25lbs and a few mahi and tuna. I do expect the fishing to be more consistent as we push thru April and into May.
We also had our bi-monthly “Fishin Mission” fishing trip. These trips are very special to me, as we take special needs children out fishing. Every trip is special in its own way. To be able to see a child's smile as he catches a fish is priceless. If you have a special needs child and would like to participate please give me a call or send me an email. Our next trip is scheduled for June 2nd.
We are coming up to my favorite time of the year to fish, May thru July. With our main migrations of Mahi, Kingfish and Tuna, the fishing will be spectacular.
Please give me a call or send me an email to set up your fishing trip of a lifetime.
Catch Em Up!
