Epic Swordfish Bite
Report Date: February 25, 2018
All I have to say is the past month we have had the BEST swordfish bite we have ever seen, Whether your fishing day or night.
All of my fishing trips the past month have been daytime swordfish trips. We have caught swordfish on every single trip. Most trips we have caught multiple swordfish. We had one trip where we had 5 bites and caught 3 swordfish. In total we have had 10 swordfish trips and caught a total of 19 swordfish. We have had the best swordfish migration I have ever seen. We were getting bites on practically every drop as soon as the bait would hit the bottom. During the epic sword bite we were only able to fish about 10 days due to it being too windy the other days.
The swordfish bite still remains very good, but has slowed a bit. Swordfish migrations vary in length of time. Swordfishing in South Florida is a year round fishery. We know very little on their migration patterns so we are limited on knowing when a migration is pushing thru our waters. There may be a very good migration of swordfish at any time but may never know if the weather and wind does not allow us to venture 15-20 miles offshore. We were just lucky as the weather and wind cooperated for a few days during this migration.
We also had the pleasure of being part of the first “Mission Fishin” of the year. This is a great way to be able to take special needs children fishing. We will be having a Mission Fishin every other month for the remainder of the year. If you would like to volunteer just send me an email. There is absolutely nothing more rewarding than taking a child fishing.
Starting next month March we will start to see a bigger migration of most species. We have already seen bigger kingfish being caught as well as mahi. March thru August is by far the best time to fish in South Florida.
If you are wanting to catch a swordfish of a lifetime give me a call or send me an email.
Catch Em Up!
