Summer time brings a lot of variety and options for fishing. Lets start with the
mahi bite. Last year this time the mahi bite was the best I have seen in a long time
This year so far has been one of the slowest years for mahi fishing. Just when you
think the mahi bite will turn on it doesn't. The mahi bite has been hit or miss.
We have seen large schools of mahis but they are on the small side. They must be
minimum 20" to the fork to keep. I still do think we will run into an early fall run of
keeper mahis. Don't get me wrong we have caught mahi, just not in the numbers
we did last year.
We have only had a few trips on the edge. The edge we have caught a few sailfish
a few kingfish, bonitas and some small blackfin tunas. We will usually come in and
fish the edge if the offshore mahi bite is not producing.
